Monthly Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Navami Vrat
Navami Vrat is observed on the 9th lunar day (Navami tithi) of both the Shukla and Krishna Paksha each month. The Shukla Navami is associated with Lord Rama (as Ram Navami falls on Chaitra Shukla Navami) and Goddess Durga (as Navami is the ninth day of Navratri when the goddess is fully propitiated). The fast is observed for blessings of courage, righteousness (dharma), victory over difficulties, and health for the family.
