Ekadashi Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Tulsi Ekadashi Vrat
Tulsi Ekadashi Vrat is observed on the Ekadashi (11th day) of Kartik Shukla Paksha, coinciding with the Devuthani Ekadashi when Vishnu awakens from his cosmic sleep. On this day, Tulsi Vivah (the sacred marriage of Tulsi plant to Lord Vishnu/Shaligram) is performed. The Tulsi plant is considered the earthly manifestation of Goddess Lakshmi and is especially dear to Vishnu. Watering Tulsi on this Ekadashi is said to be equivalent to bathing in all sacred rivers.
