Ekadashi Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Shayana Ekadashi
Shayana Ekadashi refers specifically to the Ekadashi on which Lord Vishnu assumes his Shayana (reclining) posture — entering Yoga Nidra on the cosmic serpent Ananta Shesha. In many regional calendars this is the same as Devshayani/Ashadhi Ekadashi, while in others it is observed as the Ashadha Krishna Ekadashi (the 11th of the waning fortnight of Ashadha). Regardless of regional variation, the central theme is meditation on Vishnu in his supreme restful form, contemplating the mystery of divine rest that sustains the cosmos.
