Ekadashi Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Parivartini Ekadashi (Parsva Ekadashi)
Parivartini Ekadashi, also called Parsva Ekadashi or Vamana Ekadashi, falls on Bhadrapada Shukla Ekadashi (August/September). The name "Parivartini" means "turning" — on this day Lord Vishnu, mid-sleep in Yoga Nidra, turns from one side to the other on Shesha Naga. It is also associated with the Vamana Avatar: King Bali's story and the day Vishnu in the form of Vamana reclaimed the three worlds. Devotees especially venerate Vamana on this day.
