Annual Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Shravan Somvaar Vrat
Shravan Somvaar Vrat is the Monday fast observed during the sacred monsoon month of Shravan (July–August), when the entire month is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shravan Mondays (typically 4 to 5) are the most auspicious days for Shiva worship in the entire year. Devotees carry a Kawad (holy water from the Ganga) and pour it on Shiva's lingam. It is believed that even witnessing the Kawad procession earns merit.
