Annual Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Anant Chaturdashi Vrat
Anant Chaturdashi Vrat is observed on the 14th (Chaturdashi) of the Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his form as Ananta — the Infinite Serpent (Shesha Naga). Devotees tie a sacred thread (Anant Sutra) with 14 knots on the right wrist after puja, symbolizing Vishnu's infinite protection. This day also marks the immersion of Ganesha idols after the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
