Ekadashi Fasts — Hindu Sacred Fast
Varuthini Ekadashi Vrat
Varuthini Ekadashi falls on the Krishna Paksha Ekadashi of Vaishakha month (April–May). The name derives from "Varuthin" meaning armour or protection. Observing this fast is said to grant the same merit as performing the Vajapeya Yagna or donating an elephant in gold. It is especially recommended for those seeking protection from planetary afflictions and for the welfare of ancestors. Lord Vishnu is worshipped in his Vamana (dwarf) avatar.
