Goddess Worship — Vedic Puja Vidhi
Teej Puja
Teej is a vibrant and spiritually significant festival celebrated primarily by women to honour Goddess Parvati's devotion and her reunion with Lord Shiva. There are three main Teej festivals — Hariyali Teej (Shravan), Kajari Teej (Bhadrapada), and Hartalika Teej (Bhadrapada Shukla Tritiya). Women observe fasts, sing traditional songs, apply henna, and perform elaborate puja rituals seeking blessings for a happy marriage, the well-being of their husbands, and prosperity in the household.

Benefits
Teej Puja brings the divine blessings of Goddess Parvati for a long and happy married life. It is believed to ward off widowhood, bestow marital bliss, and strengthen the bond between husband and wife. For unmarried girls, the puja is said to bless them with a suitable and loving husband. The fast is spiritually purifying and is believed to cleanse sins, bring prosperity, and invoke good fortune for the entire family.
Step-by-Step Procedure
On the day of Teej, women bathe early, wear green or red clothing symbolising prosperity, and apply henna on hands. Prepare a puja mandap and place clay or metal idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Offer flowers, fruits, sweets, bel leaves, and dhatura to the deities. Light incense and a lamp. Recite or listen to the Teej Vrat Katha. For Hartalika Teej, the fast is nirjala (without water). Perform aarti in the morning and evening. On the next day, conclude the fast by offering pujas and distributing prasad among family and neighbours.
Best Time (Muhurat)
