Shashthi Puja
Shashthi Puja is performed on the sixth day (Shashthi tithi) of the lunar month, dedicated to Goddess Shashthi — the divine protector of children and bestower of motherhood. She is worshipped especially on the sixth day after childbirth (Chhathi), when the newborn is officially introduced to the world. The Skanda Shashthi, dedicated to Lord Kartikeya (Skanda), is observed in South India with great devotion. In Bengal and eastern India, Shashthi is revered as the goddess who guards children against illness, evil eye, and premature death.
