Goddess Worship — Vedic Puja Vidhi
Dhoomavati Puja
Dhoomavati Puja is the worship of Goddess Dhoomavati, the seventh of the ten Mahavidyas and one of the most mysterious and feared tantric goddesses. She is the only Mahavidya who is a widow — depicted as an old, inauspicious woman dressed in white, riding a horseless chariot, holding a winnowing fan, with a crow on her banner. She represents poverty, hunger, sorrow, inauspiciousness, and the void after all creation has been consumed. Yet she is paradoxically worshipped for removing all these afflictions from her devotees. Dhoomavati embodies the dissolution of the cosmos and grants ultimate liberation by forcing the practitioner to go beyond all dualities of auspicious and inauspicious.

Benefits
Removes deep-rooted poverty, chronic illness, and persistent misfortune, destroys powerful enemies and nullifies black magic attacks, grants victory in seemingly hopeless situations, removes marital obstacles when worshipped with proper intent, bestows fearlessness and detachment from worldly suffering, and grants liberation to those who surrender to her void-like nature.
Step-by-Step Procedure
This puja is performed by advanced tantric practitioners and is not recommended for beginners without guru guidance. Choose a quiet, secluded space. Purify with Gangajal and light a smoky lamp using dried cow dung or mustard oil. Place the image or yantra of Dhoomavati. Offer white flowers, grey or black cloth, and cooked food (anna). Chant the Dhoomavati mantra (Dhoom Dhoom Dhoomavati Thah Thah) 108 times with a rosary made of neem or thorny wood. Meditate on her accepting form. Do not perform this puja on auspicious occasions like weddings or festivals.
Best Time (Muhurat)
Dark fortnight Ashtami and Amavasya (new moon) are most powerful. Saturdays and the month of Jyeshtha are considered especially potent. Dusk and midnight hours are preferred. Avoid performing Dhoomavati puja on auspicious festival days.
