Shiva Worship — Vedic Puja Vidhi

Amarnath Puja

Deity Lord Shiva (Amarnath)
Duration 1–2 hours
Category Shiva Worship

Amarnath Puja is a devotional worship dedicated to Lord Shiva as Amarnath — the immortal lord — enshrined in the sacred Amarnath cave in the Himalayas of Jammu & Kashmir. The naturally formed ice Shivalinga in the cave is considered one of the holiest jyotirlingas. The puja honours the divine mystery of immortality, as it is here that Lord Shiva narrated the secret of eternal life (Amar Katha) to Goddess Parvati. Devotees who cannot undertake the physical pilgrimage worship Amarnath at home by installing a Shivalinga or an image of the ice linga, recreating the sacred atmosphere through ritual, devotion, and recitation of Shiva mantras.
