Hariyali Teej
Hariyali Teej (Green Teej) falls on the third day of the bright fortnight of Shravan and marks the beginning of the Teej festival season. "Hariyali" means greenery — the festival celebrates the lush green earth ushered in by the monsoon. According to legend, Goddess Parvati was reunited with Lord Shiva on this day after 108 rebirths of penance. Celebrations are especially grand in Rajasthan, where elaborately decorated processions of Goddess Teej (Teej Mata) are carried through the streets, and in Jaipur the festival is a state event.
