Ganga Saptami
Ganga Saptami commemorates the second descent of the sacred River Ganga — the day she is said to have flowed from Lord Shiva's matted locks down to earth. It is also celebrated as the birthday of Goddess Ganga herself. Millions of pilgrims take a holy dip in the Ganga on this day, believing that bathing in her waters washes away sins and grants moksha. The ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar, Prayagraj, and Rishikesh are filled with devotees performing rituals, offering flowers and lamps to the river.
