What does right eye twitching mean for a woman?

Right eye twitching for a woman is considered inauspicious (ashubh) in Vedic Shakun Shastra. Classical texts such as Brihat Samhita and Shakun Deepika hold that for females, the right side of the body carries the Moon principle, the receptive, inward energy, rather than the Sun principle that governs the right side for males. When a woman's right eye twitches, it is interpreted as a warning sign signaling incoming challenges, conflict, or unwelcome news.

The distinction arises because Shakun Shastra interprets omens relative to gender. The right eye for a man is governed by the Sun (active, outward) and twitching there signals good fortune. For women the same right eye is governed by the Moon and signals disturbance.

The specific part of the eyelid matters. Upper eyelid twitching in a woman's right eye indicates minor irritation, a brief argument, or momentary stress. Lower eyelid twitching is considered more significant and warns of a larger conflict, financial difficulty, or health-related concern in the near term.

If the twitching persists for several hours or recurs over multiple days, classical Shakun Shastra treats this as a stronger omen requiring remedial action. Occasional, brief twitching may be dismissed as ordinary muscle spasm.

Remedies are prescribed in Shakun Deepika: applying a kumkum (vermilion) tilak on the forehead, reciting Gayatri Mantra 21 times, and offering water to the Sun (Surya Arghya) the following morning are considered effective countermeasures. Donating red lentils on a Sunday is also traditionally recommended to neutralise the inauspicious signal.

It is important to note that Shakun Shastra does not predict fixed fate, it reads the current energetic state and offers an opportunity to take corrective action through awareness, prayer, and charity.
