Sacred Recitations — Vedic Puja Vidhi

Shiv Chalisa Path

Deity Lord Shiva
Duration 15–30 minutes (single reading); 2–3 hours (108 readings)
Category Sacred Recitations

Shiv Chalisa Path is the devotional recitation of the Shiv Chalisa — a forty-verse (chalisa means forty) hymn in praise of Lord Shiva composed in the Awadhi dialect. Each verse glorifies a specific attribute, legend, or blessing of Shiva, from his cosmic form and Tandava dance to his compassion for devotees and his role as destroyer of demons. The path can be performed as a standalone daily devotion, during Shiva-related fasts, or as part of a larger Shiv Puja ceremony. Regular recitation is believed to invoke Shiva's presence and create a divine protective shield around the devotee.
