The Lagna (Ascendant) is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at your exact moment and place of birth. It marks the cusp of the 1st house in your birth chart and is the most personal point in the horoscope, shaping your physical appearance, personality, and overall life direction.

How is Lagna different from Moon Sign and Sun Sign?

The Sun Sign (in Western astrology) changes roughly every 30 days. The Moon Sign (Rashi) changes every 2.5 days. The Lagna changes every ~2 hours because it reflects the Earth's rotation. It is therefore the most time-sensitive and individually precise point in your chart.
