About Choghadiya

Choghadiya (also spelled Chaughadia or Chogadia) is a Vedic muhurat system derived from Chatur Ghadi, four Ghatis (each Ghati = 24 minutes). The system divides daylight into 8 equal segments, each approximately 90 minutes long, based on local sunrise and sunset times.

The seven Choghadiya types cycle in a fixed pattern based on the day's ruling planet. Amrit (nectar) is universally auspicious; Shubh (auspicious) and Labh (gain) are good; Char (movement) suits travel; Udveg (anxiety), Kaal (time of death), and Rog (illness) are avoided for important beginnings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.Which Choghadiya is best for business?

Amrit and Labh Choghadiya are best for business and financial dealings. Shubh is excellent for auspicious beginnings. Avoid Rog and Udveg for signing contracts or starting new ventures.

Q.Is Kaal Choghadiya always inauspicious?

Kaal Choghadiya is generally considered inauspicious. However, some traditions consider it suitable for bold, aggressive actions, such as confronting enemies or taking calculated risks. For peaceful, prosperous activities, choose Amrit or Shubh instead.

Q.How is Dimapur Choghadiya different from other cities?

Choghadiya times vary by city because they depend on local sunrise and sunset, which differ based on geographic coordinates. Dimapur (25.91°N, 93.73°E) has its own sunrise and sunset times, making its Choghadiya periods unique.
