Bhai Dooj
Bhai Dooj (also called Bhai Phota, Yama Dwitiya) is celebrated two days after Diwali. It honors the bond between brothers and sisters, similar to Raksha Bandhan but with the sister applying tilak on her brother's forehead and praying for his long life. The festival commemorates the story of Yama (god of death) visiting his sister Yamuna on this day and being so pleased by her hospitality that he granted the boon that any brother who receives tilak from his sister on this day will be freed from the fear of death.
