Frequently Asked Questions
Q.Is Kali mantra dangerous to chant?
The Kali mantra is powerful, not dangerous, when chanted with sincere devotion and proper intention. Kali is the fierce mother who destroys the ego and illusions — her energy can feel intense during sadhana. The recommendation to receive it from a guru is traditional advice, not a strict requirement. Countless devotees chant it independently with excellent results. Approach with respect, not fear.
Q.Who is Goddess Kali?
Kali is the goddess of time, transformation, and liberation — one of the most misunderstood deities. She appears terrifying (dark complexion, tongue out, garland of skulls) because she has transcended all fear, including death. The skulls represent liberated souls. Her dance destroys ignorance and the ego. In Bengal, she is worshipped as the supreme Mother. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa's entire spiritual life revolved around her.
